Information from Defcon 17
I would like to thank everyone who attended my talk on Attacking SMS at Defcon 17. I didn't expect such a large turn out and was quite surprised to find out that the goons were not allowing anymore people to come into the room because it was so packed. I am very pleased with how the talk went aside from the demo. I know some people were looking forward to seeing the web application in action, but due to setup and time constraints I was not able to have it working in time. However, I have talked with G2 and we will be releasing the application 2 weeks from now.
2 weeks should provide plenty of time for any vendor to get in contact with me in regards to any issues I have talked about. I am pleased to say that I had spoken with a few vendors before my talk and actually received confirmation that some changes in the core infrastructure of one of the organizations have already taken place. I think that is probably the best thing that could come out of a talk like this and it makes me feel great that the time and effort spent on this project helped make a difference.
I plan to begin further research into mobile technologies and hope to have another talk ready for Shmoocon or Defcon 18 next year. For those who are interested in taking a look at my slides you can grab them here and be sure to check back in 2 weeks for the web application.
